Bible Daily Readings
SOAPY is an acronym. And it’s about Bible reading. SOAPY isn’t exactly a Bible study, but it is a Method we can use to read the Bible in a way that enables God to communicate with us. And, as we do, our faith is nurtured and strengthened.
To follow SOAPY requires that you dedicate 30-60 minutes each day to your relationship with the Lord. Begin by asking the Lord to reveal to you through your reading the message He wants to convey to you. Then read the prescribed passages of Scripture from the Bible reading plan printed in this booklet. Then follow the SOAPY method described below.
SCRIPTURE Using a journal or notebook, copy down a specific verse or short passage from your daily reading that especially caught your attention.
OBSERVATION Write down your observation about that verse. That is, what does it say? What is the point of the verse?
APPLICATION Then write a brief explanation regarding how the verse applies in your life. That is, why do you think the verse caught your attention? What might the Lord be trying to say to you through this verse?
PRAYER Following that, write a very brief prayer regarding what you have observed and its application to you.
YIELD Last, determine what you must yield in order for your prayer to be answered.
